NOAA: Tropical Storm Chris Projected Path Over Mexico, Spaghetti Models

 

VERA CRUZ, Mexico – ‘s National Center issued a Public Advisory at 11 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time on Sunday, June 30, 2024, due to the presence of  Tropical Storm Chris over Mexico.

Tropical Storm Chris (formerly Invest 94L) is located 105 miles southeast of Tuxpan, Mexico and is moving to the west at 13 mph (20 km/h).

NHC forecasters say that this general westward motion should continue until it dissipates over eastern Mexico late Monday.

Tropical Storm Chris Spaghetti Models

Computer models,  often referred to as spaghetti models, are in general agreement that Tropical Storm Chris will move west over Mexico.

Tropical Storm Chris Strength

Tropical Storm Chris has maximum sustained winds of 40 mph (65 km/h), with higher gusts.

The official NHC forecast calls Tropical Storm Chris to weaken and dissipate after it moves inland over eastern Mexico.

Tropical Depression 3 Watches and Warnings

A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Cabo Rojo to Puerto Veracruz.

A Tropical Storm Warning means that tropical storm conditions are expected somewhere within the warning area, in this case within the next 6 hours.

NOAA and Colorado State University forecast an “extremely active” 2024 Atlantic Hurricane Season, which runs from June 1 through November 30.
