NOAA National Hurricane Center Hurricane Humberto Projected Path
MIAMI, Florida – NOAA‘s National Hurricane Center issued a Public Advisory at 5 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time on Saturday, September 27, 2025, for Hurricane Humberto, which strengthened to a Category 5 hurricane earlier today while moving northwestward in the central Atlantic.
No Tropical Storm Warnings are currently in effect for Hurricane Humberto, as it is expected to remain over open waters.
However, a Tropical Storm Watch may be issued for Bermuda if the track shifts westward.
Interests in Bermuda, the northern Leeward Islands, the Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, and along the northeast coast of the United States should monitor the progress of this system.
Hurricane Humberto is located at 22.9 N 61.1 W, about 500 miles east of the Bahamas, and is moving to the north-northwest at 10 mph (16 km/h).
NHC forecasters say that a northwestward motion is expected to continue through early next week, followed by a possible turn to the north.
On the official NHC forecast track, the center of the hurricane is expected to remain over the open Atlantic, potentially passing near or east of Bermuda mid-week.
Computer models, often referred to as spaghetti models, are in good agreement that the system will move northwestward over the open Atlantic, remaining offshore the U.S. East Coast.
The models show Humberto maintaining its strength as a major hurricane for several days before possibly weakening due to increasing shear. There is low uncertainty in the track, with most solutions keeping it away from land, though some impacts like swells and rip currents may affect coastal areas.
The official NHC forecast track is in best agreement with the majority of the deterministic guidance, showing a gradual turn northward at days 4-5.
Hurricane Humberto has maximum sustained winds of 160 mph (257 km/h), with higher gusts.
It is expected to remain a powerful major hurricane through early next week, with possible slight fluctuations in intensity.
NOAA forecasts an “above-normal” 2025 Atlantic Hurricane Season, which runs from June 1 through November 30.
September marks the peak of hurricane season, with historical data from NOAA and the National Weather Service showing increased tropical storm and hurricane activity during this period.
