NOAA GOES EAST satellite imagery of Tropical Storm Andrea 2025 over the central Atlantic.
MIAMI, Florida – NOAA‘s National Hurricane Center issued a Public Advisory at 11 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, due to the presence of Tropical Storm Andrea over the open central Atlantic.
Tropical Storm Andrea (formerly Invest 90L) is located about 1205 miles west of the Azores and is moving to the east-northeast at 17 mph (28 km/h).
NHC forecasters say that this motion is expected to continue for the next day or so.
Computer models, often referred to as spaghetti models, show Tropical Storm Andrea moving east-northeast over the open central Atlantic.
This motion is expected to continue through dissipation, which is forecast to occur by 36 hours. The track forecast closely follows the TVCA and HCCA consensus guidance.
Both the GFS (American model) and ECMWF (European model) are in agreement with this track.
Tropical Storm Andrea has maximum sustained winds of 40 mph (65 km/h), with higher gusts.
Little change in strength is expected today. Weakening is expected to begin tonight, with Andrea dissipating by Wednesday night.
Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 45 miles (75 km) from the center of the tropical cyclone.
NOAA forecasts an “above-normal” 2025 Atlantic Hurricane Season, which runs from June 1 through November 30.
Although peak hurricane season isn’t until September 10, hurricane and tropical storm activity begins to pick up in late June, according to NOAA and the National Weather Service’s historical hurricane activity data.
