DeSantis Sends Florida National Guard To Ports Affected By Strike To Keep Helene Supplies Going

TAMPA, Florida – Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced on Thursday that he is deploying the Florida National Guard and the Florida State Guard to critical ports affected by the dockworkers strike to maintain order and, where possible, resume operations in order to keep supplies flowing to areas impacted by Hurricane Helene.

“It is unacceptable for the Biden-Harris administration to allow supply chain interruptions to hurt people who are reeling from a category 4 hurricane,” said DeSantis.

Under the Taft-Hartley Act, President Joe Biden has the power to temporarily suspend the strike for 80 days, but so far, has not invoked that option.
