MIAMI, Florida – There is a moderate risk of dangerous rip currents along the entire east coast of Florida from Jacksonville southward to Miami in the Atlantic Ocean and also across the Florida Panhandle on Sunday, June 23, 2024.
Six people have died from swimming at Florida beaches last week due to rough seas generated by former Invest 92L.
On Thursday, two parents died after swimming with their children on South Florida‘s east coast and another man died off Panama City Beach. On Friday, three more men died off Panama City Beach.
Scattered to numerous thunderstorms will develop this afternoon across the Florida Peninsula, mainly in the interior and east coast of North Florida and Central Florida.
Scattered thunderstorms will be possible across all of South Florida.
The strongest storms could contain gusty winds, heavy rain, and frequent lightning, according to the National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center.
Storms will be slow-moving, so localized flooding is possible, especially in poor drainage areas.
