Flood Watch Issued For South Florida


MIAMI, Florida - The National Weather Service in Miami has extended a Flood Watch remains for all of South Florida through Friday evening. 


Periods of widespread showers and thunderstorms with heavy rainfall will lead to the potential for localized flash flooding. 


Rainfall amounts of 4-8" are expected across South Florida, with locally higher of 10"+ possible today.


The Flood Watch includes the following Florida counties:


Southeast Florida: 

Coastal Broward County, Coastal Miami Dade County, Coastal Palm Beach County, Far South Miami-Dade County, Inland Broward County, Inland Miami-Dade County, Inland Palm Beach County, Metro Broward County, Metro Palm Beach County, and Metropolitan Miami-Dade.


Southern Florida: 

Glades and Hendry counties.


Southwest Florida: 

Coastal Collier County, Inland Collier County, and Mainland Monroe.


The National Weather Service warns that excessive rainfall could lead to flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying areas. Urban areas and locations with poor drainage are particularly at risk.
