TALLAHASSE, Florida – Florida Governor Ron DeSantis surveyed the damage in Tallahassee on Saturday following a series of severe weather that swept through North Florida on Thursday and Friday.
Yesterday, DeSantis proclaimed twelve North Florida counties under a State of Emergency.
“I surveyed the damage today in Tallahassee from the severe weather we experienced yesterday. State agencies have been deployed to assist the local officials with relief and recovery efforts,” DeSantis tweeted.
“I also stopped by the Hope Florida bus, which is at Sabal Palm Elementary to help those in need; distribute supplies such as food, water, diapers, and wipes; and provide a place to charge phones or access the internet.”
SHELTER
The Capital Area Chapter of the American Red Cross, in coordination with Leon County and the Florida Division of Emergency Management, will open an overnight shelter tonight, May 11, starting at 6 pm. at the Al Lawson Center, 1800 Wahnish Way.
WASTE DISPOSAL
The Leon County Solid Waste Facility and two Rural Waste Centers are open and accepting vegetative debris from all residents in Leon County.

FOOD AND WATER DISTRIBUTION
In close coordination with the State of Florida, three Leon County points of distribution continue to distribute water and shelf-stable meals to residents.
