Florida Governor Ron DeSantis |
TALLAHASSEE, Florida - Governor Ron DeSantis issued Executive Order 24-94 (May North Florida Tornadoes) on Friday, declaring 12 counties under a State of Emergency from severe weather impacting North Florida.
On Monday, DeSantis amended the State of Emergency by adding three more counties for a total of 15.
Counties included in the State of Emergency are:
Baker, Columbia, Escambia, Gadsden, Hamilton, Jefferson, Lafayette, Leon, Liberty, Madison, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, Suwannee, Taylor, and Wakulla counties.
The Executive Order noted that several tornadoes and strong wind gusts caused significant damage to critical state infrastructure, including wind and tree fall damage to residences, businesses, powerlines, and other infrastructure across North Florida; and that thousands of Floridians in North Florida have lost power.
The State of Emergency makes funding available to assist local and state agencies responding to the disaster area.
Severe Weather is possible again on Monday across North Florida.
