Why Are Velvet Caviar Power Banks Being Recalled?
The recalled MagSafe Wireless Power Pack, a 5,000 mAh portable charger for MagSafe-compatible phones and earphones, poses a fire hazard due to its lithium-ion battery. Identified by the “Velvet Caviar” engraving on the front and model number ZHX-PB21 on the back, the affected units include those with purchase order (PO) numbers PO-PP001 to PO-PP010, as well as unmarked devices.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and VC Group report 19 incidents of the power banks overheating or catching fire, leading to 10 minor injuries. This has triggered a Fast Track Recall (recall number 25-190) to address the growing safety concerns surrounding lithium-ion battery-powered devices.
