National Weather Service Miami Rain Chances map for South Florida on Saturday, September 19, 2026
MIAMI, Florida – The National Weather Service in Miami forecasts a wet weekend across South Florida on Saturday, September 19, 2026, with scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms especially during the afternoon and early evening.
An upper-level low settling into the eastern Gulf will keep deep moisture in place through Sunday, with additional storm rounds likely into next week.
Recent rain has already soaked much of the metro. NWS radar estimates from 5 p.m. Tuesday through 5 p.m. Friday showed about 4–11 inches in metro Palm Beach County, 2–7 inches in metro Broward County, 1–4 inches in metro Miami–Dade County, and 2–4 inches in metro Collier County.
Friday added another widespread 2–4 inches across metro Broward and Palm Beach, while most of metro Miami-Dade stayed under 1 inch. That leftover water raises the flood threat if storms stall over the same neighborhoods today.
Morning coverage should stay more isolated, with the best storm chances building this afternoon into early evening. Widely scattered coastal showers can linger overnight. Mean rainfall is only about a quarter to a half inch, but slow storm motion can still produce several inches in a short time.
Primary hazards include frequent lightning, gusty winds, and localized heavy downpours. Urban and poor-drainage flooding remains the main concern, especially in spots hit hard since Tuesday.
The Weather Prediction Center kept far southern Florida in a marginal risk of excessive rainfall today and Sunday. Isolated weekend totals of 2–4 inches are possible in South Florida, with a few spots higher if storms train.
