MIAMI, Florida – The National Weather Service in Miami forecasts scattered showers and thunderstorms across South Florida on Thursday, September 3, 2026.
The highest coverage is expected over interior portions of South Florida, including parts of Southwest Florida, during the afternoon into the early evening. Lingering showers and storms may continue into the evening hours.
Cloud cover and rain may keep some areas a little cooler at times, but highs will still run around 90.
Storms may produce heavy rainfall, gusty winds, and frequent lightning. Localized urban flooding is possible where rainfall rates are high and storm motion is slow.

Heat risk continues today — High temperatures will rise into the upper 80s to low 90s across most of South Florida, with forecast highs near 90°F in Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and Naples, and 91°F in West Palm Beach.
Peak heat index values will range from about 105°F to 109°F, with the highest readings expected across the east coast metro and parts of the interior, including Miami and West Palm Beach near 109°F, Fort Lauderdale, Homestead, Belle Glade, La Belle, and Buckhead Ridge near 108°F, and Immokalee near 109°F. Naples and Flamingo are closer to 105°F. Clouds and storms should help keep values from climbing higher in some areas.
