ORLANDO, Florida – The National Weather Service in Melbourne forecasts onshore-moving showers and storms possible along the coast this morning.
Scattered showers and storms will then develop along the east coast sea breeze and shift westward across the interior this afternoon and evening. Activity will gradually taper off through the evening.

The main hazards during peak storm hours this afternoon include:
- Frequent lightning – When thunder roars, go indoors!
- Gusty winds up to 40-50 mph
- Locally heavy rain (1-3 inches) that may lead to temporary ponding on roadways and in poor drainage areas
Exercise extreme caution at Atlantic beaches. Swim near lifeguards and never enter the surf alone. A High Risk of rip currents is forecast today at all area beaches (Daytona, Space and Treasure Coasts) with 2-3 ft surf. Entering the surf is not advised.
Stay hydrated and take breaks in the shade or air conditioning. Muggy conditions will continue with heat indices reaching 102–107°F this afternoon. Hotter temperatures and elevated HeatRisk are expected through next week, especially across the interior.
