ORLANDO, Florida – Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms will develop through the afternoon and evening today as the sea breeze pushes inland.
Repeated rounds of heavy rainfall may produce minor localized flooding. Highs will be in the low to mid 90s°F.
The National Weather Service in Melbourne forecasts scattered to numerous showers and storms developing along the coast with the sea breeze before shifting westward across the interior this afternoon and evening. A few storms will be capable of strong wind gusts to 40-50 mph, frequent lightning and locally heavy rainfall. Activity will gradually taper off through the evening.

The main hazards during peak storm hours this afternoon include:
- Frequent lightning – When thunder roars, go indoors!
- Gusty winds up to 40-50 mph
- Locally heavy rain (2-4 inches, isolated up to 5 inches) leading to temporary flooding, especially in poor drainage areas and roadways
Exercise extreme caution at Atlantic beaches. Swim near lifeguards and never enter the surf alone. A High Risk of rip currents is forecast today at all area beaches (Daytona, Space & Treasure Coasts) with 2-4 ft surf. Entering the surf is not advised.
Stay hydrated and take breaks in the shade or air conditioning. Muggy conditions will continue with heat indices reaching 102–107°F this afternoon.
