TAMPA BAY, Florida – The National Weather Service Tampa Bay forecasts scattered showers and thunderstorms across the Tampa Bay region and Southwest Florida today, Monday, July 20, 2026. It is currently drifting northwest over the northeast Gulf and is forecast to slowly strengthen while moving northwest, then eventually west later in the week. Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms are expected with locally heavy rainfall possible. Stronger storms could produce gusty/damaging winds and lightning. A light flow combined with daytime heating and the sea breeze will trigger mainly afternoon and evening activity, with the best chances across interior and southern areas. The tropical system will enhance rainfall amounts, especially along the coast. Activity will diminish overnight, leaving partly to mostly cloudy skies.
