JACKSONVILLE, Florida – The National Weather Service in Jacksonville has issued a Heat Advisory for Coastal Southeast Georgia and an updated Thunderstorm Outlook for Tuesday, July 7, 2026.
Heat indices are expected to reach 105-110°F today across much of the region, with scattered typical summer thunderstorms possible this afternoon and evening. The strongest activity is expected near the I-95 corridor to the coast before diminishing later in the week as conditions turn sunnier and hotter.
A Heat Advisory is in effect for Coastal Southeast Georgia through this evening due to dangerous heat and humidity. Heat Advisories remain possible each day through the weekend. Thunderstorm activity is expected to develop this afternoon, with the highest coverage and strongest storms anticipated near the I-95 corridor to the coast. Storms should decrease in coverage and intensity through the week.
According to the National Weather Service in Jacksonville, the primary threats include dangerous heat (heat exhaustion and heat stroke) along with storm hazards of wind gusts up to 40-50 mph in the stronger storms, frequent lightning, and heavy downpours that could lead to localized minor flooding.
Moderate rip current risk is in effect for area beaches today.
