ORLANDO, Florida – The National Weather Service in Melbourne forecasts above normal heat continuing across East Central Florida today, with heat indices expected to reach 102–110°F (locally higher) this afternoon. Conditions are close to Heat Advisory criteria in many areas, with Moderate to Major HeatRisk impacts. The Storm Prediction Center has issued a Marginal Risk (Level 1 of 5) of severe thunderstorms across East Central Florida today, mainly from 12 PM to 9 PM. A Marginal Risk means isolated severe storms are possible, though coverage and intensity are expected to remain limited. Afternoon showers and thunderstorms chances will be near or slightly above normal, with 40-60% coverage expected this afternoon and evening. Highs will be in the low to mid 90s°F.
