JACKSONVILLE, Florida – The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center has issued a Marginal Risk (Level 1 of 5) of severe thunderstorms today across parts of northeast Florida. The National Weather Service in Jacksonville forecasts an Isolated Severe Thunderstorm risk this afternoon into early evening along I-95 and across southwest Georgia. From 2 to 8 p.m. The primary threat is damaging wind gusts of 40-50+ mph from downbursts. Other hazards include frequent lightning, locally heavy downpours, and small hail. According to NWS Jacksonville, stronger storms may develop within the risk area, with isolated strong-to-severe thunderstorms possible across the shaded region.
