JACKSONVILLE, Florida – The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center forecasts a Marginal Risk of severe thunderstorms today across parts of the Southeast, including portions of southeast Georgia and northeast Florida. The National Weather Service in Jacksonville forecasts an Isolated Severe Thunderstorm risk this afternoon into early evening. Isolated severe thunderstorms will be possible this afternoon through early this evening. First, across northeast Florida from 1 PM to 7 PM, then across eastern southeast Georgia from 5 PM to 10 PM. The primary threat is damaging wind gusts of 40-60+ mph from downbursts. Other hazards include frequent lightning, locally heavy downpours, and small hail. According to NWS Jacksonville, stronger storms may develop within the risk area, with isolated strong-to-severe thunderstorms possible across the shaded region.
