Thunderstorms, Rain For Florida Panhandle

, Florida – The National Service Tallahassee issued a weather forecast for Southeast Alabama, Southwest Georgia, the Florida , and Big Bend due to isolated showers and possible afternoon thunderstorms on Monday, March 9, 2026.

According to the National Weather Service Tallahassee, isolated showers and thunderstorms will develop across Mississippi and Alabama in the afternoon, moving east-southeast into Southeast Alabama, Southwest Georgia, the Florida Panhandle, and Big Bend later in the afternoon and evening.

There is a Marginal Risk (Level 1 of 5) for severe weather, with primary concerns including large hail up to quarter size or larger and damaging wind gusts.

Gusty winds may accompany stronger thunderstorms, with potential for 40-60 mph gusts. Secure loose outdoor items and exercise caution when driving high-profile vehicles.

A High Risk of Rip Currents is in effect for many area beaches through at least Monday, and a Dense Fog Advisory is issued for marine areas.

The greatest chance for thunderstorms is in the afternoon and evening across the region. Cities that may experience impacts include:

  • Albany
  • Bainbridge
  • Marianna
  • DeFuniak Springs
  • Tallahassee

The rain will bring some much-needed relief to the Florida Panhandle, but it will not be enough to end the ongoing severe to extreme drought.

High temperatures across the Florida Panhandle will be in the upper 70s to mid 80s on Monday with lows in the lower to middle 60s overnight.

Following today’s possible storms, conditions will become more tranquil with partly sunny skies and temperatures remaining in the upper 70s to low 80s through much of the following week.
