National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center Severe Weather Outlook for Florida March 28, 2026
MIAMI, Florida – The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center has issued a marginal risk (Level 1/5) severe weather outlook for South Florida due to the potential for severe thunderstorms expected to impact the region on Saturday, March 28, 2026.
The National Weather Service in Miami forecasts mostly sunny skies this morning, becoming partly cloudy with scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms developing this afternoon through early evening. Rain chances are highest across the western and interior areas (up to 55% near Everglades City) and lower along the east coast (Miami 16%, Fort Lauderdale 21%, West Palm Beach 29%). A marginal risk of severe storms exists across much of South Florida.
An isolated tornado cannot be ruled out, and lightning poses a significant risk, especially for outdoor events.
These storms may produce wind gusts up to 60 mph and hail up to quarter size (1 inch).

High temperatures will range from the low to mid 80s along the Atlantic coast to the mid 80s inland this afternoon. Heat indices are expected to reach the upper 80s to low 90s (up to 92° inland near Immokalee) due to humidity.
