FDA Tater Tots Recall In 26 States, Including Florida

ORLANDO, Florida – McCain Foods USA Inc. has initiated a voluntary Class II recall of frozen tater tots due to potential contamination with clear, hard plastic fragments, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The recall affects approximately 38,853 cases and was classified by the FDA on January 6, 2026. No illnesses have been reported.

The affected products are:

• Ore-Ida Tater Tots shaped potatoes, frozen, net wt. 30 lbs per case, UPC 1 00 72714 00215 8 (21,256 cases).
• Sysco Imperial Potato Tater Barrels, frozen, 6/5 lb. bags per case, UPC 1 07 34730 62740 0, distributed by Sysco Corporation, Houston, TX (17,597 cases).

WFLA reported that he products were distributed to 26 states: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Hawaii, Iowa, Idaho, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, Nevada, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Washington, and Wisconsin.

The recall was initiated on December 3, 2025, and is ongoing. No press release was issued. The action is listed in the FDA’s enforcement report under Recall Event #98088.
