LAND O’ LAKES, Florida – A 40-year-old school teacher from Pasco County has been arrested and charged with second-degree homicide following the death of her juvenile son, the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office announced on Facebook.
Justine Mroz was taken into custody on October 19 after deputies from the Pasco Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call she made around 9:50 a.m., reporting that she had just killed her child.
The incident occurred at a residence in Land O’Lakes, and the victim, described as a juvenile boy, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Sheriff’s officials have classified the case as a homicide but have not released details on the cause of death or any potential motive, citing the ongoing investigation.
The boy’s exact age has not been publicly disclosed to protect his identity as a minor,

Mroz, who works as a teacher in the Pasco County school system focusing on high school graduation enhancement and college/career readiness, is currently being held at the Land O’Lakes Detention Center without bond, according to the Miami Herald.
Authorities have emphasized that this appears to be an isolated incident with no ongoing threat to public safety.
