Florida Man Batters Teen Girl, Throws Dog Off Balcony

Nigel Alexander Myers allegedly threw a dog off of a balcony that was protecting a teenage girl from Myers.

SAINT PETERSBURG, Florida – A 44-year-old man faces multiple charges, including aggravated animal cruelty and child abuse, after authorities say he followed a teenage girl around a home, assaulted her, and hurled her protective pit bull off a second-floor balcony.

The incident unfolded on September 29, 2025, at a residence in unincorporated St. Petersburg, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies from the Patrol Operations Bureau responded around 7:10 p.m. to reports of animal abuse and lewd and lascivious conduct.

Investigators determined that Nigel Alexander Myers, born July 3, 1981, had earlier that day pursued a 15-year-old female victim into a bedroom. The girl managed to exit the room, but Myers followed her into the living room and persisted in trying to lure her back, deputies said.

During the confrontation, the victim’s 3-year-old pit bull, named Sparta, intervened by jumping on Myers in what appeared to be a protective act.

In response, Myers allegedly grabbed the dog and slammed it against the top of a dog cage.

Moments later, he reportedly lifted Sparta by its hind legs and tossed the animal over the second-floor balcony.

Sparta sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a nearby animal hospital for treatment.

Veterinarians expect the dog to make a full recovery.

Myers was taken into custody at the scene and booked into the Pinellas County Jail.

He has been charged with aggravated animal cruelty, domestic battery, child abuse, and lewd and lascivious conduct.
