The “No Kings” movement describes its actions as a response to what it calls authoritarian excesses and corruption by the Trump administration, alleging impacts on elections, social programs, and vulnerable communities.

The group’s website, nokings.org, states, “On October 18, millions of us are rising again to show the world: America has no kings, and the power belongs to the people.”

The events are planned to be nonviolent, with organizers asking attendees to avoid weapons and de-escalate any potential conflicts.

Claims have been made about external funding for the protests, including involvement from Soros foundations.

According to “No Kings” materials, the rallies focus on policies the group says favor authoritarianism over democratic principles.
