National Weather Service Central Florida rain chances and high temperatures September 5, 2025
ORLANDO, Florida – The National Weather Service Melbourne has issued a forecast for Central Florida on Friday, September 5, 2025, of a slight chance of showers, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 11am from late morning through the afternoon and early evening, with a 40-45% chance of precipitation. Winds north northeast 5 to 10 mph with gusts as high as 20 mph are expected, with gusts up to 40-50 mph possible in storms.
Highest coverage of showers and storms will remain south of I-4 this weekend. Then, chances become numerous area-wide next week, as another front stalls over the area
Thunderstorms are capable of occasional lightning, gusty winds, small hail, and heavy rainfall which could lead to minor flooding.
Rain chances will remain elevated through the weekend, around 60-70%, while temperatures will remain near or slightly above normal. A moderate risk of rip currents at the beaches is in effect today, with lingering swells causing rough surf of around 2-3 feet and hazardous boating conditions today. Small craft should exercise caution, with seas 2 to 3 feet.
Near normal temperatures with highs in the upper 80s to low 90s continue, resulting in peak afternoon heat indices up to around 95-105 degrees today.
