ORLANDO, Florida – A man died after becoming unresponsive following a ride on Stardust Racers at Universal Epic Universe in Orlando, according to park officials and local authorities.
The incident occurred Wednesday night on the dual-launch racing coaster in the Celestial Park area of the theme park. The guest was transported to a Florida hospital by Orange County Fire Rescue, where he was later pronounced dead.
Universal Orlando Resort released a statement Thursday morning: “Universal is cooperating with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office following a tragic event involving a guest at Epic Universe on Wednesday night. The guest became unresponsive after riding Stardust Racers and was transported to the hospital, where the guest later died. We are devastated by this event and extend our sincerest sympathies to the guest’s loved ones. We are fully committed to cooperating with this ongoing investigation. The attraction remains close,.” WESH 2 reports.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the matter, with Universal fully cooperating. No further details on the cause of death have been released, according to ClickOrlando.
Stardust Racers is a steel dual-launched roller coaster manufactured by Mack Rides, located at Universal Epic Universe. The ride reaches speeds of up to 62 mph and heights of 133 feet, with nearly 5,000 feet of track. It features a dueling track design where two trains race side-by-side, including unique elements like the “Celestial Spin” inversion. Described as Epic Universe’s most thrilling coaster experience, it opened in May 2025 alongside the park and has been popular with visitors.
Universal Epic Universe, a $7 billion expansion to the Orlando resort, debuted in May 2025 with five immersive worlds. Stardust Racers serves as a flagship attraction in the central Celestial Park hub.
The ride remains closed pending the investigation, while the rest of Epic Universe is operating normally.
