ORLANDO, Florida – The National Weather Service Melbourne has issued a forecast for East Central Florida on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, of numerous to widespread showers and storms from late morning through the afternoon and early evening, with an 80% chance of precipitation. Winds northeast around 5 mph are expected, with gusts up to 45 mph possible in storms.
Thunderstorms are capable of occasional to frequent lightning, gusty winds, and heavy rainfall which could lead to minor flooding.
Rain chances will remain elevated through late week, around 70-80%, while temperatures will remain near or slightly below normal. A high risk of rip currents at Volusia, Brevard, and Indian River county beaches is in effect today, with a moderate risk at St. Lucie and Martin county beaches, with lingering swells causing rough surf of around 2-4 feet and hazardous boating conditions today. Small craft should exercise caution, with seas 3 to 5 feet, up to 6 feet offshore.
Near normal temperatures with highs in the mid to upper 80s continue, resulting in peak afternoon heat indices up to around 95-100 degrees today.
