ORLANDO, Florida – The National Weather Service Melbourne has issued a forecast for Central Florida on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, of onshore moving showers this morning, pushing inland into the afternoon, with a 50% chance of precipitation mainly after 2pm. Breezy northeast winds with gusts up to 25 mph are expected.
Isolated thunderstorms storms are possible, capable of frequent lightning, gusty winds, and heavy rainfall which could lead to minor flooding.
Near normal temperatures with highs in the low 90s continue, resulting in peak afternoon heat indices up to around 102 degrees tomorrow.
Rain chances will remain near normal through mid-week, decreasing slightly by late week, while temperatures will rise to above normal values by Thursday. A high risk of rip currents at the beaches is in effect today, with swells from Major Hurricane Erin causing rough surf of 6 to 9 feet and hazardous boating conditions peaking Tuesday through Thursday.
Major Hurricane Erin, currently a Category 4 storm passing well east of Florida after weakening from Category 5, is forecast to remain offshore. However, coastal impacts including high rip current risk, rough surf up to 6-9 feet, minor beach erosion, and hazardous boating conditions will continue through Thursday.
