, Florida – The National Weather Service in Jacksonville has issued a forecast for predicting scattered showers and thunderstorms with a potential for isolated strong storms and locally heavy rainfall on Friday, August 15, 2025, along with a Heat Advisory, with increased thunderstorm risks through Saturday.

According to NWS Jacksonville, isolated to scattered thunderstorms will form along and west of I-95 by early to mid-afternoon, influenced by the Atlantic and Gulf coast sea breezes.

Stronger thunderstorms could develop later during peak heating, potentially leading to locally heavy rainfall and localized flooding, especially in coastal southeast Georgia on Saturday.

General storm activity is expected from 1 PM to 10 PM, with strong storms possible from 3 PM to 9 PM. On Saturday, showers and thunderstorms will be more widespread.

Storms will be capable of producing:

  • Heavy downpours, with rainfall rates up to 2.5 inches per hour, which may lead to localized flooding, mainly in urban areas.
  • Frequent lightning.
  • Gusty winds up to 45-55 mph from wet downbursts.
