MIAMI, FL — The National Weather Service in Miami has issued a forecast of increased moisture and rainfall potential across South Florida for the upcoming Labor Day weekend (Saturday, August 30 through Monday, September 1, 2025), with scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms expected each day amid near-normal temperatures.

A plume of deep tropical moisture from the Caribbean will enhance rain chances, with a 50% probability of exceeding 4 inches of rainfall in parts of South Florida from Saturday through Monday. Localized totals could reach 6-10 inches or more, raising concerns for urban and poor drainage flooding,

Temperatures will range from highs of 90 to 94°F, with high humidity pushing heat indices to 100-108°F or higher, potentially triggering heat advisories.

Rainfall chances over the Labor Day weekend are moderate to high, with potential for widespread coverage. Based on NWS guidance, expect 60-80% probabilities in many areas, including Palmdale at 70%, Clewiston at 75%, West Palm Beach at 65%, Immokalee at 78%, Naples at 65%, Everglades City at 85%, Fort Lauderdale at 65%, Miami at 60%, Homestead at 70%, and Flamingo at 70%. These indicate scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms, with heavy rainfall possible in bands.
