, Florida – The National Service in has issued a forecast for predicting strong thunderstorms on Tuesday, August 5, 2025.

According to NWS Jacksonville, localized heavy rain and some strong storms are expected this afternoon and evening north of Waycross in southeast Georgia and along the I-95 corridor. The east coast sea breeze will focus areas of heavy rainfall and some strong storms near the I-95 corridor this mid-afternoon through mid-evening.

Stronger storms over southeast Georgia and portions of northeast Florida will be capable of producing:

  • Damaging wind gusts around 35-50 mph capable of impacting structures and trees.
  • Frequent lightning.
  • Heavy downpours, which may lead to localized flooding, mainly in urban areas.

Additionally, heavy downpours on already-saturated ground increases the risk for flooding, especially in urban areas.
