MIAMI, FL — The National Weather Service in Miami has issued a forecast of scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms with a high rain chance across South Florida from late this morning through the afternoon, Friday, August 8, 2025, shifting to the interior and Gulf coast.

A few storms may become strong this afternoon, capable of producing damaging winds and heavy downpours. Excessive rainfall could lead to localized urban and poor drainage flooding.

Temperatures will reach the low to mid 90s, with high humidity amplifying heat indices to the low 100s.

Rainfall chances today are significant, with Palmdale at 91%, Immokalee at 89%, Naples at 80%, Miami at 81%, Fort Lauderdale at 82%, West Palm Beach at 84%, and Homestead at 79%, according to the NWS forecast. These probabilities show increasing shower and thunderstorm activity favoring the western half of South Florida, with potential for localized heavy rainfall.
