Rain For Florida Panhandle and Big Bend

TALLAHASSEE, Florida – The National Weather Service Tallahassee has issued a Flood Watch for Southeast Alabama and Southwest Georgia, effective immediately and extending through this evening, August 6.

NWS meteorologists anticipate widespread rainfall amounts ranging from 1 to 2 inches across the affected areas, with isolated locations possibly receiving up to 6 inches today.

Another round of showers and storms is expected to move from southwest to northeast across the region.

The slow movement of these storm systems increases the risk of significant water accumulation, particularly in low-lying and urban areas with poor drainage.

The Flood Watch covers portions of southeast Alabama and southwest Georgia.

While the heaviest rain is expected to be isolated, the cumulative effect of multiple storm rounds could challenge infrastructure and prompt road closures.

Cooler Conditions Amid the Rain

Temperatures are expected to remain cooler than typical August levels, ranging from the mid-80s to low 90s Fahrenheit, thanks to persistent cloud cover and rainfall.
