MIAMI, Florida – The National Weather Service in Miami issued a forecast for South Florida on Monday, May 26, 2025, indicating high heat indices and a chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms during the afternoon and early evening.
According to NWS Miami, Clewiston has the highest chance of rain at 68%, followed by Immokalee at 62% and Naples at 59%.

Homestead has a 33% chance, and Flamingo has the lowest at 24%.
The NWS notes that inland areas are most likely to see showers and thunderstorms.
The thunderstorms and cloud coverage on Monday will bring some relief to the excessive heat South Florida has been experiencing this week.
Maximum heat indices across South Florida will range from 99°F in Flamingo to 107°F in Immokalee. Miami will experience a heat index of 101°F, Fort Lauderdale 100°F, West Palm Beach 100°F, and Naples 102°F.
Inland locations such as Everglades City and Buckhead Ridge will see heat indices of 102°F, while Belle Glade and La Belle are forecast at 103°F and 105°F, respectively.
Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned environments.
Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.
The urban heat island effect occurs when urban areas become much warmer—sometimes by as much as 20°F—than nearby rural landscapes, especially during summer.
According to NASA, this happens because cities have more heat-absorbing surfaces like asphalt, concrete, and buildings, and less vegetation to provide cooling through shade and evapotranspiration.
