, Florida – The National Service Storm Prediction Center has issued a marginal risk (Level 1/5) severe weather outlook for South Florida due to the potential for severe thunderstorms expected to impact the region on Sunday, May 4, 2025.

The National Weather Service in Miami forecasts scattered thunderstorms in South Florida this afternoon through early evening, with a marginal risk of severe storms in the Lake Okeechobee region and east coast metro areas from Miami northward to West Palm Beach, including Fort Lauderdale and Boca Raton. An isolated tornado cannot be ruled out, and lightning poses a significant risk, especially for outdoor events.

These storms may produce wind gusts up to 60 mph and small hail (less than 1 inch), which could impact the Fort Lauderdale Air Show and F1 2025 Miami Grand Prix,  potentially causing delays due to lightning.
