, Florida is set for a wet and stormy afternoon and evening, with severe threats on Thursday, May 8, 2025, according to the National Weather Service in Melbourne.

The Storm Prediction Center has issued a severe storm warning on May 8, 2025, highlighting a Level 2 (Slight Risk) for severe weather north and east of Orlando, and a Level 1 (Marginal Risk) for areas south and west, indicating potential hazards of gusty winds (40-55 mph), hail, frequent lightning strikes,  and heavy rainfall.

The risk for strong to severe storms will mainly focus across the eastern half of Central Florida, with the highest coverage and intensity after 4 PM through approximately 9 PM Thursday.

Storms that produce hailstones the size of quarters or larger can result in dents on cars, damage to roofs, break windows, and can be deadly to animals and people.

Large hailstones can fall at speeds faster than 100 mph.
