, Florida is set for a wet and stormy afternoon and evening, with severe threats on Monday, according to the National Weather Service in Melbourne.

The Storm Prediction Center has issued a severe weather outlook for Central Florida due to the potential for severe thunderstorms, hail, gusty winds, and tornadoes that are expected to impact the region on Monday, May 5, 2025.

Damaging wind gusts up to 40-50 MPH, lightning strikes, coin-sized hail, and locally heavy rainfall are the main hazards.

The risk for strong to severe storms will mainly focus across the I-95 corridor southward, with the highest coverage and intensity after 3 PM through approximately 10 PM tonight.

What Damage Can Large Hailstones Do?

Storms that produce hailstones the size of quarters or larger can result in dents on cars, damage to roofs, break windows, and can be deadly to animals and people.

Large hailstones can fall at speeds faster than 100 mph.
