TALLAHASSEE, Florida – The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center has issued a severe weather outlook for North Florida and the Florida Panhandle due to the potential for severe thunderstorms that are expected to impact the region from the afternoon through the evening hours on Thursday, May 8, 2025. [caption id="attachment_7268" align="aligncenter" width="1920"] National Weather Service Tallahassee Severe Weather Forecast for the Florida Panhandle and Big Bend Thursday May 8, 2025.[/caption] The National Weather Service in Tallahassee issued a Marginal Risk (level 1 of 5) for severe thunderstorms on May 8, 2025, across southwest Alabama, southwest Georgia, and the Florida Panhandle/Big Bend, indicating a low but notable chance of severe weather with damaging winds as the primary threat and hail up to quarter-sized possible. There is a Marginal Risk (level 1 of 4) for Excessive Rainfall the next few days with a Slight Risk (level 2 of 4) on Sunday, when the heaviest rain of the event is currently forecast to fall. By the time all is said and done early next week, 4" to 8" of rain is expected to fall across a large portion of the forecast area.
