OCALA, Fla. — A bank robbery at the TD Bank on SE 17th Street in Ocala escalated into a high-speed police pursuit and an officer-involved shooting on Wednesday, resulting in multiple arrests and one suspect injured.
According to the Ocala Police Department’s Facebook page, an adult white male entered the TD Bank around midday, armed and demanding money.
The suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of cash in a black pickup truck. Police quickly located the vehicle, initiating a pursuit that ended near the 4400 block of SE Maricamp Road, adjacent to the Southern Pig and Cattle restaurant.
During the chase, the suspect’s vehicle veered off the road and rolled into a retention pond.
Authorities confirmed that three suspects were involved in the robbery and subsequent pursuit.
An officer-involved shooting occurred during the incident, leaving one suspect with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the wrist.
The injured suspect is expected to make a full recovery. No officers were harmed.
Several suspects are now in custody, and the investigation remains active. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) will investigate the officer-involved shooting, as is standard protocol.
