JACKSONVILLE, Florida – The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) arrested a man in downtown Jacksonville on Friday after receiving 911 calls reporting an armed individual making threats against his neighbors. The incident occurred around noon near Forsyth Street in a busy area of the city.
JSO District 1 patrol officers responded to the scene, located the man’s vehicle, and took him into custody without any injuries.
Authorities recovered an AR-15 rifle, a shotgun, and a handgun from the vehicle.
The JSO described the situation as “very dangerous and potentially deadly” due to the presence of firearms in a populated area.
The man was determined to be experiencing a mental health crisis. He is now in custody, facing a charge of aggravated assault related to the armed threats, and is receiving mental health treatment.
The JSO expressed gratitude to the officers for resolving the incident.
