PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. — 50-year-old James Farthing of Kentucky, who won the $167.3 million Powerball jackpot on April 26, 2025, was arrested early Tuesday morning, April 29, 2025, at the TradeWinds Resort in St. Pete Beach, Florida.
According to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, Farthing allegedly punched a hotel guest at a resort bar and kicked a deputy in the face while attempting to flee.
His girlfriend, Jacqueline Fightmaster, was also arrested for attempting to fight other patrons but has been released, LEX18 reports.
“Fightmaster, 42, allegedly lived up to her name,” the New York Post quipped.
Farthing faces charges of felony battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting an officer without violence, and simple battery.
Although Farthing was granted bail for the Florida charges, he is being held without bond due to a parole violation out of Kentucky, according to Pinellas County Jail records.
Farthing purchased the winning Powerball ticket at Clark’s Pump-N-Shop in Georgetown, Kentucky, and was interviewed by Kentucky television station WKYT about his big win.
