Wells Enterprises, Inc., based in Le Mars, Iowa, has voluntarily recalled 22 varieties of ice cream and frozen yogurt products due to potential contamination with hard plastic.
The recall, initiated on April 25, 2025, involves approximately 18,000 three-gallon tubs distributed to 103 facilities across the United States, primarily for foodservice use.
The recalled products include brands such as Blue Bunny, Gordon Choice, Glenview Farms, and others, with flavors like Vanilla, Chocolate, Rocky Road, Mocha Almond Fudge, and Cotton Candy.
The largest recalled batches are 5,280 tubs of Vanilla Frozen Yogurt, 2,261 tubs of Artificially Flavored French Vanilla Ice Cream, and 1,858 tubs of BIPC Flavored Ice Cream.
The FDA classified the recall as Class II on May 14, 2025, indicating possible temporary or reversible health risks, such as choking or dental injury. No illnesses or injuries have been reported.
Wells Enterprises notified affected businesses by email, instructing them to discard the products and request refunds.
Recalled products can be identified by jet codes and “Best If Used By” dates, such as “3G BB PREM ROCKY ROAD 1CS LOT50009 HH 19115 18:00 510 BEST IF USED BY 10/10/26” for Rocky Road (UPC: 070640050314) and “3G SK VANILLA FY 1CS LOT 50002HH 19115 18:00 5091 IF USED BY 9/30/26” for Vanilla Frozen Yogurt (UPC: 00070640022144).
