MIAMI, Florida — Florida State Senator Ileana Garcia (R-Miami) briefly fainted during a press conference held by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis on May 6, 2025, while she was discussing proposed bans on water fluoridation and weather modification.
The incident occurred in Miami, where Garcia was addressing reporters alongside Florida Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo.
“Governor, forgive me. I’ve got to sit down because I am not feeling well,” said Garcia before she fainted.
As Garcia began to falter, Ladapo swiftly caught her before she could fall while saying, “I got you,” preventing any injury.
After a brief pause, Garcia returned to the podium, appearing composed and even joking about the episode. “Are you kidding? this was my moment,” said Garcia.
She completed her remarks without further incident.
The incident was captured at the end of the below video that was live streamed by the Governor’s Office on X.
