ORLANDO, Florida – The ongoing heat wave in Florida continues to push heat indices into dangerous triple-digit territory through midweek, according to the National Weather Service.
As of today, Monday, May 19, 2025, heat indices across Florida remain extreme.
Central Florida, including Tampa and Orlando, will have heat indices of 101-103°F, while South Florida will see values up to 104°F.
Coastal areas like Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and Jacksonville will range from 99-101°F.
The Florida Panhandle, including Destin and Panama City Beach, will have heat indices around 90-96°F.
On Tuesday, May 20, heat indices will remain similar. South Florida will reach up to 103°F, Central Florida, including Orlando and Tampa, will see 100-102°F, and coastal areas like Miami and Jacksonville will be around 99-101°F. The Panhandle will range from 92-97°F.
By Wednesday, May 21, heat indices will slightly decrease. South Florida will see values of 100-102°F, Central Florida, including Tampa and Orlando, will range from 97-101°F, and coastal areas like Miami and Jacksonville will be around 97-99°F. The Panhandle will have heat indices around 90-94°F.
Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.
