LAKE WORTH, Florida — The National Weather Service (NWS) in Miami issued a Flood Advisory for portions of southeast Florida, including Palm Beach County, on May 5 at 2:52 PM EDT, effective until 4:45 PM EDT.
The advisory comes as heavy rainfall from thunderstorms has led to minor flooding in the region, with more expected.
Doppler radar indicated that between 1 and 3 inches of rain have already fallen, causing ponding of water in urban areas.
An additional 2 inches of rain is forecast, which could exacerbate flooding in low-lying areas.
Affected locations include Wellington, Greenacres, Royal Palm Beach, Palm Springs, Atlantis, Golden Lakes, Royal Palm Estates, Gun Club Estates, Loxahatchee Groves, Florida Gardens, Lake Worth Corridor, and Seminole Manor.
The NWS warns residents to remain cautious and avoid driving on flooded roads.
