TALLAHASSEE, Florida – Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has ordered U.S. and Florida state flags to be flown at half-staff on Monday, May 26, 2025, in observance of Memorial Day.
“The last Monday in May is set aside to honor our fallen heroes who answered the call of duty and made the ultimate sacrifice to maintain the security of our nation and the liberties we hold dear,” DeSantis stated in a Proclamation issued on Wednesday.
“We are grateful for the soldiers, sailors, airmen, Marines, Guardians, Coast Guardsmen, and Merchant Mariners who died in the service of our nation that we might continue to enjoy the freedoms we so deeply cherish.”
“With more than 1.4 million veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces currently residing in the SUNSHINE STATE, Florida is proud to be the most veteran-friendly state in the nation,” DeSantis noted.
Governor DeSantis directed the flags of the United States and the State of Florida to be flown at half-staff at all local and state buildings, installations, and grounds throughout the State of Florida from sunrise until on Monday, May 26, 2025.
