PORT EVERGLADES, Florida — U.S. Attorney General Pamela Bondi, FBI Director Kash Patel, and U.S. Coast Guard leaders announced the offloading of more than 48,400 pounds of illegal drugs at Port Everglades on Wednesday.
Over 44,550 pounds of cocaine 3,880 pounds of marijuana valued at over $509 million were seized during operations in the Eastern Pacific Ocean.
“This is a textbook example of the Justice Department supporting the fight against violent crime,” said Bondi. “Congratulations to the Coast Guard … what they did saved countless American lives.”
The seizures resulted from 13 interdictions by the crews of U.S. Coast Guard cutters James and Mohawk, with support from a Helicopter Interdiction Tactical Squadron aircrew, the Tactical Law Enforcement Team-Pacific law enforcement detachment, and partner agencies. The operations targeted drug trafficking in the Eastern Pacific.
