ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — A homeowner in St. Petersburg fatally shot one of two men who broke into a residence early Wednesday morning, according to the St. Petersburg Police Department.
The incident occurred around 2 a.m. on April 16, 2025 at a home located at 3401 40th Street North in the Disston Heights neighborhood.
Police say two men entered the home, causing the homeowner to open fire.
One of the suspects was struck and later died from his injuries at a local hospital. The deceased suspect has not yet been identified.
The second suspect fled the scene and remains at large. Authorities have not released a description of the individual.
The St. Petersburg Police Department described the investigation as active and ongoing, with no additional details available at this time.
Detectives are working to uncover the circumstances surrounding the home invasion and identify the second suspect.
