Florida Nurse Loses License After Allegedly Having Sex With Stepson, 15

, Florida – Alexis Von Yates, a 35-year-old registered nurse from Ocala, Florida, had her single-state nursing license suspended on April 25, 2025, following allegations of sexual abuse involving her 15-year-old stepson.

The Florida Department of cited her alleged actions as demonstrating a lack of the moral character and judgment required for nursing, prompting an emergency suspension order.

The allegations stem from an incident in July 2024, when Yates was reportedly caught engaging in sexual activity with the minor by the child’s father, according to a detailed arrest affidavit.

The stepson, who was visiting for the summer, allegedly fled the home after the discovery. Yates was arrested on November 6, 2024, and charged with sexual battery on a person aged 12 to 18 by a person in familial custody, a felony according to Marion County Jail records.

Yates pleaded not guilty on December 10, 2024, in the Fifth Judicial Circuit Court of Florida for , with her attorney entering the plea on her behalf Ocala-News.com reports. She was released on a $10,000 bond the day after her arrest.

The Florida Department of Health’s suspension order, detailed in by People Magazine and Law & Crime, emphasized that nurses are entrusted with public safety and must exhibit good judgment.

The department stated that Yates’ alleged actions posed “a risk of immediate, serious danger to the health, safety, and welfare of the public” according to  Ocala-News.com.

Her license, issued in January 2016 and set to expire on April 30, 2025, is currently under emergency suspension, as confirmed by the Florida Department of Health.
