The assault was reported on Monday, April 28, 2025, at approximately 5:20 p.m., when a passerby discovered the alleged victim on Douglas Ferry Road and alerted authorities.

The woman, who had been brutally beaten, was found in critical need of medical attention. Emergency medical services and law enforcement responded to the scene, where deputies learned the chilling details of the attack.

According to the victim, Gipson visited her residence and, within minutes, became enraged. He allegedly attacked her, binding and gagging her before subjecting her to a prolonged assault.

The victim reported that Gipson sexually battered her, beat her with a blunt object, and threatened her life with a handgun.

The ordeal continued at Gipson’s residence, where he further abused her and confined her in a container in his yard. The victim managed to escape and reached Douglas Ferry Road, where she was found by a motorist.

The victim is now receiving treatment at a local hospital and is in stable condition.

Gipson faces active arrest warrants for sexual battery, aggravated battery with a weapon, and false imprisonment.

Gipson could also be linked to the murder of the victim’s mother-in-law, 74-year-old Lettie Cooper Collins, who was allegedly beaten to death during the incident

“This morning, I promised the residents of our county that we would work around the clock until we had Gipson in custody. Gipson was apprehended in a wooded area just north of Douglas Ferry Road off Pate Pond Road,” Sheriff Kevin Crews stated on Facebook.

“May all our prayers be with this family at this time as we continue to work through this investigation for a successful prosecution.”
